SIPA has always been a hub and place for Filipino arts and culture to be shared and created in Historic Filipinotown. This year, SIPA held the Historic Illipinos IV: Moving The Needle event, celebrating the significant impact Filipinos have had on DJ'ing and hip hop culture. The event featured engaging panel discussions, an interactive DJ workshop, and a vibrant record market. It was presented by HiFi Kitchen & Beat Junkies, two prominent names that highlight the fusion of Filipino culture with music and cuisine.

Filipino DJs have played a crucial role in shaping the hip hop scene both in the Philippines and internationally. Icons like DJ Rhettmatic and DJ Babu (Beat Junkies), DJ Icy Ice, DJ Qbert, Mix Master Mike, and the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, to name a few, have been pioneers in the DJing world, known for their innovative scratching techniques and contributions to turntablism. Their influence extends beyond music, as they have become cultural ambassadors, showcasing Filipino talent on global stages.

This year marks a milestone for SIPA as it hosted the event for the first time in our newly available MPR (multi-purpose room). This achievement fulfills a long-held dream of the community, providing a dedicated space where Filipino arts and culture can flourish for generations to come. The Historic Illipinos IV event not only honors the legacy of Filipino DJs but also inspires future generations to continue moving the needle in the world of music and beyond.
